Utilizing the latest in instructional “blended learning” concepts, the Social Work Academy combines the strengths of e-training technologies with traditional classroom opportunities. The result—a powerful and comprehensive educational package proven to increase learning comprehension and retention for social workers.
Our educational offerings (CEU's) include:
- Live In-House training
- Live Virtual classroom training
- Web-based recorded training
- Conferences/Symposiums
- Chapter Events
- Networker CEU's
Live In-House Training
This is the traditional training format whereby attendees would arrive at the training center and would receive the materials from an interactive presentation with the presenter and other attendees. In-House Trainings have the added advantage of allowing the attendees to network and have more of a connection with their instructor and other attendees.
Live Virtual Training
This is a live broadcast of the actual training center teaching. Those who cannot come to the training center
can attend it from home, or anywhere in the world that has high speed Internet connection (DSL, Cable, etc) and computer speakers.
Those who attend the class off site will view the same power point presentation, listen to the same lecture and will have the option to ask questions as if they were in-house.
Web-based Recorded Trainings
Most of the Social Work Academy's live classes are recorded and uploaded to the Internet. If you were unable to attend the specific time it was offered you can still take the course and receive CEU's. This is an actual video recording, so you see what other attendees see. There is not, however, an opportunity to ask questions as this will be a replayed recording.
Conferences/Symposiums
This is a chance for social
workers to join together to learn new skills and techniques, to hear new and updated techniques to
strengthen their practice as well as to join together to promote our profession. The Illinois Statewide Conference averages from 15-18 CEU's, includes numerous networking opportunities and access to social work related vendors. This onsite training opportunity is THE event for social workers.
Chapter Events
There are numerous events being presented by the Chapter either by direct sponsorship or co-sponsorship with other social work agencies that provide free to affordable CEU's. These events tend to be onsite throughout the state - instructor led courses.
Networker CEU's
The NASW IL Networker is a social worker magazine focusing on issues directly effecting Illinois Social Workers. As part of the benefit of being a member of NASW IL , we provide 1 CEU per issue (12 CEU's per licensure cycle) for reading an article followed by a brief comprehension quiz. These CEU's are FREE to NASW IL members who receive the Networker digitally only. A small fee is required for all others to receive the CEU.
